a trip to montmartre

to be honest montmartre was a little underwhelming -
the basilica was majestic but i did not appreciate the massive crowds and rhabdomyolysis inducing number of steps to get there.
the weather was also a little miserable which did not help and the lovely atmosphere depicted on the film amelie was just missing.
what i did enjoy were the street performers - the guy playing the guitar and singing at the steps in front of the church really reminded me of the guy who played the role of nino on amelie!
also the band who was playing at the metro station was also fabulous, full of soul.



as an aside -
the station is called Abbesses,
but i was convinced for days that it was Abscesses (and thinking what an awful name!) -
how silly! and hilarious!
